9 Lesson one Know what a charity is Understand your values Activities Definition Consider four case studies and whether the individuals’ actions are good deeds or acts of charity Values Auction Pupils to consider their own values

10 Lesson two Understand the work and the importance of the work of a local or international charity Activities In groups, research the work of a particular charity: Find out when it was started, by whom and why Find out where it carries out its work and who does the work Find out how much it costs to keep the organisation going each year Find out about the type of work your organisation does Find out how successful it has been and what else needs to be done

11 Lesson two Understand the work and the importance of the work of a local or international charity Activities Use the research information to create a guide to your charity: A pamphlet A story board A piece of display work A video report A Powerpoint presentation A radio or T.V. interview script A letter written to a friend outlining the work of your charity A case study story

12 Lesson three Be able to consider reasons for your vote towards a local and international charity that WHTC should support Activities Present the information to the class Each pupil is to vote on the local and international charity that they would like WHTC to support ClassHouseWHTCPupil Local + International

13 Why have we changed the format? Explicit Transparent Focused Choice BY VOTING FOR WHICH CHARITY TO SUPPORT WE GIVE OWNERSHIP AND INDEPENDENCE TO OUR PUPILS.
