4 On a half sheet of notebook paper, write and answer the following questions (T or F) 1.Particles of matter have kinetic energy and are in constant motion. 2.Temperature, thermal energy, and heat are the same. 3.Temperature is measured using either Celsius or Kelvin temperature scales. 4.As an object’s temperature increases, the movement of the particles doesn’t change. 5.Absolute zero is the point at which all molecular motion stops.

5 What is kinetic energy? Kinetic energy – energy of motion Matter is made of particles in constant motion. They have kinetic energy.

6 TEMPERATURE How hot or cold something is Temperature is a measure of the average kinetic energy of particles in an object. Measure of how fast particles are moving As heat is added, particles speed up. What does this do to kinetic energy?
