4.  Balıkesir University was founded in 1992.  It started off with only two faculties and a few vocational schools in 1992.  Since then the university has developed very fast and today, It has nine faculties, five research institutes, twenty vocational schools, and ten research centres.  Today we have about 42000 students, 2000 academic and administrative staff.

17. * First of all we pick up the students from Balikesir bus station and take them to their accommodation place. We help them for the nesessary formal procedure for registration in the first weeks. * We also help them for courses selections and registraion to the department in the first following weeks of the academic year. * All students from Erasmus+ did their health insurance before coming, however in necessary situations, we provide students health service for free of charge in the Balikesir University Medico-social service. * We organize orientation programs in the first week (city tour, transportation to the campus, money exchange offices ects.) * We also organize some events, touristic trips to the historical places in near places of Balikesir.

20. The school of health is accepting up to 15 Erasmus+ students for traineeships during every academic year. The university provides traineeship opportunities in the university hospital. The hospital has very modern equipments and experienced staff. Traineeship fields: Pediatric nursing Obstetrics Internal medicine nursing Surgical nursing Psychiatry The accommodation is free for Erasmus+ students both for studies and traineeships. They only pay deposit. After finishing the traineeship the depozit is given back to the students.

22. Troy Troy is a 3.200-year-old site and one of the world’s most famous and best known ancient cities. The legendary Trojan War, lasted for ten years between the Archaeans and Trojans, took place within the borders in Balikesir.

23. IDA Mountain land of legend Its pure air scientifically proven to offer ideal respiratory conditions, Ida Mountain is literally bursting with fountains and natural springs. This natural area hosted the first beauty contest in history.

24. Assos is a virtual open air museum. You may see Byzantine and Roman ruins as well as monuments going back to the Hellenenistic and Archaic periods.
