Beaver Lake Middle School

Whatever you do, don’t think your child doesn’t need you as much as he/she did in those younger days. If anything middle schoolers need their families more! They want a different kind of relationship with you, one with more maturity and independence, but they want as much time and attention from you as before. ----- Help I’ve Got a Middle Schooler

Academic Enrichment Grants from $100 to $10,000 provide teachers with funding for projects that enrich education, fill unmet needs and serve as incubators for innovation Open Library Program gives every student a safe, supervised location to study, use the computer, or work on group projects after school. NEW! Healthy Youth Initiative – now funded by ISF, the Healthy Youth Initiative (formerly known as the Issaquah Community Network) will address key youth and family issues including: suicide prevention, substance abuse, homelessness, bullying prevention, strengthening emotional resiliency and reducing Adverse Childhood Experiences. VOICE (Volunteers of Issaquah Changing Education) pairs caring community volunteers with struggling students to improve academic performance, boost self-esteem, and help curb the high-school dropout rate. At Beaver Lake four students are being served by four mentors. Annual Dedicated Fine Arts Fund of $100,000 supports the vocal, drama, band, orchestra and visual arts programs that play an essential role in a comprehensive education. Financial Literacy for all 8th graders includes a six-week curriculum on personal finance topics and culminates with a field trip to the Jr. Achievement Finance Park in Auburn. Robotics Club Funding gives students the opportunity to build and compete using Lego Mindstorm Robotics Kits. It is estimated that over 75% of students participating in high school robotics clubs pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. Basic Student Needs Collaboration – In conjunction with the PTSA’s, IEA and school nurses, ISF develops and funds programs that eliminate the underlying issues that keep students from being successful in school such as eyeglasses, access to dental care, school supplies, prescriptions, breakfast foods and warm clothing. National Board Certification Scholarships give teachers access to the ‘pinnacle’ of professional development programs; equipping them with the tools to develop inquisitive, engaged learners. Beaver Lake currently has seven National Board Certified teachers. CTE Scholarships provide forgivable loans for Career and Technical Education teachers to receive additional training and certification in areas that provide our students with real world application in the classroom including: Sports Medicine, Video Production, Business and Marketing, Theater Production, Culinary Arts and Forensic Science.
