2 Symptoms & Signs Exercise 1 A 3 year old child was admitted to a regional hospital with a high grade fever after suffering a seizure at home. Emergency lumbar puncture was performed and IV antibiotics were commenced. She was diagnosed with meningococcal meningitis.

A diagnosis of UTI was made and she was commenced on IV antibiotics. MSU grew pseudomonas aeruginosa and this was confirmed by the clinician to be the cause of her UTI.

A diagnosis of UTI was made and she was commenced on IV antibiotics. MSU grew pseudomonas aeruginosa and this was confirmed by the clinician to be the cause of her UTI. Swabs from bed sore showed that she was MRSA positive (methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus). Discharge back to nursing home was delayed until a negative swab was obtained 4 days later.
