Jumpstart: Summer Bridge Program Required for all entering students (with fewer than 30 hours in a college setting) who are not college ready in reading, writing, and/or math Must complete the program to enroll in coursework in Fall 2015 Offered during the Summer II session (July 15-Aug 20) Will be offered on both Edinburg and Brownsville campuses Limited tuition/fee, residence hall, and dining scholarships available

22. Frequently Asked Questions from Students about UTRGV

23. How and when will new students register for classes? New students will be invited to attend orientation (beginning May 15) this summer. At that time, students will register for their fall classes. If students want to talk with an advisor before orientation, they are welcome to call, email, or drop by either the Brownsville or Edinburg campuses for a one on one consultation. Current students will begin Fall registration at the end of April.

24. Will students have to take courses in Brownsville and Edinburg? Almost all undergraduate programs will be available on both campuses, with all required courses available in both Brownsville and Edinburg. A few highly specialized programs will only be available on one campus. We’re still evaluating how and when to expand those programs more broadly. Ex: Pre-Pharmacy. Specialized courses, not required for a degree, may only be available on one campus.

25. Will students need to apply to a campus? UTRGV is one university. Students can take classes at any campus they would like with no additional application.

26. Will students be able to use any of the facilities on either campus? Yes! Students will have access to facilities, student support services, parking, etc. on all UTRGV campuses.

27. Will current students have to change their degree plans or take extra courses? No, degree plans for current students at both UTB and UTPA will be honored, though some may have course numbering changes.

28. Will there be transportation between the campuses for students? UTRGV is planning to provide inter-campus transportation. However the best way to do that is still being worked out.

29. Will classes be offered jointly between the campuses? Yes, UTB and UTPA already collaborate on a few classes that are offered between the two institutions through online or videoconferencing technology. This will continue on a larger scale.

30. Will tuition go up? Tuition and fees are proposed to increase slightly. Guaranteed rates for four years for entering freshmen (2 years for Master’s students, 4 years for Doctoral students)! Fees will be simplified
