The flag is a red sun in a white background. In Japanese, the word “Japan” means “ land of rising sun”.

Japan’s population is approximately 30 million. Many people live in flats or units. Japan’s highest mountain is Mount Fuji, a dormant volcano.

Spring festivals are celebrated by cherry blossoms. The Japanese believe in Shinto and Buddhism. The Japanese people have a deep affection for the beauty of the landscape. The ancient Shinto religion says nature features like mountains,waterfalls and forests have own spirits, like souls.

The Japanese people are famous for their ancient art and the beauty they put in. Many of the pictures are of Japanese girl heroes in kimonos.

The japanese eat raw meats, pufferfish and grasshoppers as a snack. The pufferfish can kill many people.

In Japan it is mostly sunny. South Japan is warmer than the North. Japan’s national clothing are kiminos.

There are nearly 4,000 smaller islands. Japan’s closest neighbours are South Korea, China and also Russia. There are four main islands: Hokkaido, Honsho, Shikoku and Kyushu. People came to Japan about 30,000 years ago. Girls that are well talented are called Geisha. They have their painted white and can sing, dance and poetry. Japan has made a movie, called Spirited Away, which is a movie about staying with your parents.

Japan’s national athem is Kimigayo, which means is “his Majesty’s region “. Singers wish him a happy 1,000 years! In Japan, children first learn a game called “ Jan, Ken, Bon, which means stone, scissors, paper.
