2. Addition First, find the lowest common multiple. E.g. ½ + ¼ = 2/6 or 1/3. Then add the numerators together. The same goes for the denominators.

3. Subtraction Do the same as in the last slide, but take away. E.g. ½ - ¼ = ¼.

4. Multiplication Just multiply the numerators together and the denominators together. E.g. ¼ x ½ = 2/8.

5. Division Just divide it. E.g. 4/8 divided by 2/8 =2/8.
