14. Head Movements Voy a examinarle la cabeza. → I am going to examine your head. Doble la cabeza a la derecha (izquierda), por favor. → Turn your head to the right (left), please. Doble la cabeza hacia adelante (atrás). → Bend your head forward (backward). Mueva la cabeza para arriba y para abajo cuando quiera decir "sí." → Nod your head to say “yes.” Muévela de un lado a otro cuando quiera decir "no." → Shake it for “no.”

Mire… hacia arriba. → Look up. hacia abajo. → Look down. aquí. → Look here. la luz. → Look at the light. para la derecha (izquierda). → Look to the right (left). para la izquierda. Tápese el ojo así. → Cover up your eye like this. Abra los ojos. → Open your eyes. Cierre los ojos. → Close your eyes.

Ear Exam Voy a examinarle los oídos. → I'm going to examine your ears. ¿Es el sonido igual en ambos oídos? → Is the sound the same in both ears. ¿Es más suave en un oído? → Is it softer in one ear? ¿Oye mejor en el oído derecho que en el izquierdo? → Do you hear better in the right ear than in the left?

17. Mouth/Throat Exam Abra Ud. la boca, por favor. → Open your mouth, please. (formal) Diga "ah." → Say "ah." (formal) Ciérrela. → Close it (your mouth). Permítame tomarle la temperatura. → Let me take your temperature. Saque la lengua. → Stick out your tongue. Trague, por favor. → Please swallow. Puedo sentir una masa (bolita) en el cuello. → I can feel a mass (lump) in your neck.

Things to look/listen for during an abdominal exam: Masas → masses Cicatrices → scars Lesiones → lesions Distención abdominal → Abdominal Distension Sonidos intestinales → Bowel Sounds ¿ Siente dolor o sensibilidad al pulsar hacia abajo? → Do you feel pain or tenderness when I press down? ¿Cuándo comenzó el dolor? → When did the pain start? ¿Dónde está localizado el dolor? → Where is the pain located? ¿Tienes antecedentes familiares de cáncer de cólon o enfermedad inflamatoria intestinal? → Do you have a family history of colon cancer or inflammatory bowel disease ?
