2. WE ARE WORTH IT! FUN, FUN, FUN!!! You will learn MORE from this experience than any other experience in high school. You will work harder than you have before and you will LOVE every second. You will accomplish MORE than you can imagine.

3. WE ARE WINNERS! To be a winner you will need: A well thought out plan. Organized through every aspect of the project. To work together. To meet deadlines. To communicate effectively. To work consistently.

4. WE ARE ACHIEVERS! Select a topic you feel passionate about  can be a personal testimony  can impact your family or community Prove that there is a need to bring awareness to the issue or topic  conduct a marketing research study  research secondary data Set goals for the project - Keep Realistic and Measurable  who will benefit  how will they benefit  how will you reach the goals - plan activities

5. Create a timeline and stick to it  do not procrastinate - get things done on schedule  plan on completing written portion by December Plan activities and events - set a theme for project  document everything involved in the implementation  take pictures of the process and activities Utilize all your marketing media and means of publicity  involve the community and school whenever possible  bring as much awareness and attention to your project Follow the outline and guideline in the DECA Guide  the Executive Summary will be the last part you write  use proper grammar and punctuation

6. WE ARE PRESENTERS! Dress as a team and match the theme of the project  DECA attire is best  look sharp and well groomed  professional and fashionable Use judges score sheet to set up presentation  assign each partner an objective  write out exactly what each partner will say  read it out loud several times Generate visuals to flow with the presentation  title each section per objective met on score sheet  clear pictures and charts large enough for judge to see from a distance  each picture should have a caption (large enough for judge to see)  follow the color scheme and theme of project Opening needs to grab the judges attention  as a direct question  tell a story  shock with statistics and facts

7. Practice by presenting to teachers, administrators, students, parents, etc.  record your presentation and view it for nervous tweaks  learn your part  speak clearly and annunciate  include your judge in the presentation when possible  do NOT use note cards Have something significant to hand the judge  something that the judge will remember about your project  cannot be of value Practice - Practice - Practice - Practice
