11 What are the Guidelines about? How people get access to natural resources. Who can use what resources, for how long, and under what conditions Tenure Responsible Governance To support the sustainable use of land, fisheries and forest resources and care for the environment.

40 5. Lessons learned so far Global recognition and take-up is unprecedented. As awareness is increasing, so is demand – but this is patchy. Sensitivity of tenure governance requires sensitive liaison with governments – FAO comparative advantage in providing a neutral forum. The broad nature of the VGGT requires a uniquely broad approach – inter-disciplinary; from governments to grass-roots, innovative approaches and new ways of collaborating between stakeholders. Implementation programme is now creating positive examples of impact of VGGT at country level. The complexities & sensitivities mean bringing about change will take time.
