2 New DFE directive to schools ‘The Prevent Duty’ Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) – CSE is a type of sexual abuse in which children are sexually exploited for money, power or status. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) - (sometimes referred to as female circumcision) refers to procedures that intentionally alter or cause injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. It has no health benefits and harms girls and women in many ways. A girl at immediate risk of FGM may not know what's going to happen. Preventing Extremism and Radicalisation - The Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015 places a duty on specified authorities, including local authorities and childcare, education and other children’s services providers, in the exercise of their functions, to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism, extremism and radicalisation.
