However, in order to avoid any suspicions, applications of HARTING employees will not be accepted. This contest is addressed to individuals only (1 student per application). RomaniaHR@HARTING.com Competition Rules - Description Description Design of a Docking System for the blind mating in Low Voltage Switchgears of existing HARTING connectors: ▬P/N of male frame for the movable part: 09 14 010 1701 ▬P/N of compatible male modules with contacts for the movable part: 3 x 09 14 006 2633 ▬P/N of female frame for the fixed part: 09 14 010 1711 ▬P/N of compatible female modules with contacts for the fixed part: 3 x 09 14 006 2733

KG Student Competition 9/25 Competition Rules - Description Description The fixing of the Docking System has to respect the following frame conditions of the Low Voltage Rack on the drawer side as well as on the cabinet side (for graphical representation see the document “Contest for Students – graphical representation.pdf” – page 1/3): ▬Width max. 108 mm ▬Height max. 65 mm ▬Depth max. 45 mm inside the cabinet ▬Depth max. 45 mm inside the drawer ▬Distance approx. 140 mm between drawer and cabinet in open position ▬Distance min. 80 mm between drawer and cabinet in test position ▬Distance max. 60 mm between drawer and cabinet in working position

KG Student Competition 10/25 Description The Docking System has to overcome the following tolerances of the Low Voltage Rack (for graphical representation see the document “Contest for Students – graphical representation.pdf” – page 2/3): ▬± 3 mm in the length of the connector ▬± 1 mm in the width of the connector ▬± 1° axial tolerance for the length of the connector ▬± 0,3° axial tolerance for the width of the connector Competition Rules - Description

KG Student Competition 11/25 Competition Rules - Description Note If necessary, the original male & female frames can be modified without affecting the given fixation of male & female modules. ▬The Docking System has to assure a contact overlapping for mating reliability of min. 4 mm in test position (for graphical representation see the document “Contest for Students – graphical representation.pdf” – page 3/3). ▬The Docking System has to be functional in both directions – when sliding in the drawer (to assure the mating reliability of min. 4 mm in test position) and when sliding out the drawer (to assure a secure connection of the control circuit connectors up to the test position).

KG Student Competition 12/25 Concept Phase A concept application is mandatory – you cannot continue to the next step (“4. Design phase”) without a concept application. Each concept application has to include: ▬The reply by e-mail from HARTING in electronic format, as a confirmation of your subscription – see the note from “2. Contest description” ▬PowerPoint presentation (in English) with clear concept description ▬The corresponding 3D CAD Model of the assembly in “concept” status (preferably NX native format generated with a valid license software, but STEP and IGES formats are also allowed) Up to 3 concepts possible per applicant – in case of more than one concept a SWOT Analysis is required Concept files have to be sent to RomaniaHR@HARTING.com Files exceeding 20 Mb have to be archived and / or split into 20 Mb volumes in order to pass through our e-mail server. KG Student Competition 13/25 Design Phase Each design application has to include: ▬3D CAD models (preferably NX native format generated with a valid license software, but STEP and IGES formats are also allowed) ▬2D drawings (PDF) for all new / modified parts, respectively for all assemblies and subassemblies ▬BoM included in the assembly drawings ▬Assembly animation based on CAD models to highlight the functionality of the docking system ▬PowerPoint Presentation (in English) of the design solution Up to 3 designs possible per applicant Design files have to be sent to RomaniaHR@HARTING.com Files exceeding 20 Mb have to be archived and / or split into 20 Mb volumes in order to pass through our e-mail server.
