What is Dental Public Health? Dental public health is the science and art of preventing oral diseases, promoting oral health and improving the quality of life through the organised efforts of society. Dental public health builds on the basis of a broad clinical dental background, extending that clinical understanding to encompass a population approach to oral health. Training Programmes in Dental Public Health Entry: Competitive. Normally hold MFDS RCS qualification or equivalent Duration: Normally 4 years duration (3 years NHS training & 1 year academic). Academic training typically 5 years+. e.g. My background: BMedSci > BDS > MFDS RCS Edin > MPH > PhD > FDS (DPH) + FFPH Entered training programme Academic training within programme (Academics) Exit = RCS Intercollegiate Fellowship examination
