Specific Objective Question Consider the influence of the U.S. Constitution on the political systems in contemporary world.

The U.S. Constitution has influenced political systems throughout the world. Principle: Federalism Definition: The national government and the states government share power. In the U.S. Constitution: Powers are shared between the national government and the 50 states government. In the World Today: In South Africa, power is shared between the national government and the government of the nine provinces.

Principle: Separations of Power Definition: Government roles are divided among different branches, with no one branch holding all the power In the U.S. Constitution: There are three branches of government: Legislative (Congress) Executive (The President) Judicial ( The Courts) In the World Today: South Korea has three branches of government: Parliament A court System President

The U.S. Constitution has influenced political systems throughout the world cont. Principle: Popular Sovereignty Definition: The government gets its authority from the people and reflects their will. In the U.S. Constitution: The Preamble says,” We the people of the United States… do ordain and establish this Constitution…” which indicates that government power comes from the people. In the World Today: The Japanese Constitution begins by saying that the government's power comes from the people and shall be used by them for only their own benefit.

The U.S. Constitution has influenced political systems throughout the world cont. Principle: Individual Rights Definition: Liberties and privileges are guaranteed to each citizen. In the U.S. Constitution: The Bill of Rights guarantees freedom of speech, religion, the press, and other rights. In the World Today: The United Nations Declaration of Human Rights says that" all human beings are born free and equal” and should have certain rights.
