ABOUT KENYA CHAPTER Launched 26 th March 2010. Current Membership; over 125 registered members Hosts WOMESA secretariat at KMA offices, Has a designated Programs Officer for Chapter Affairs The affairs are run by an EXCOM comprising 8 members

ABOUT WOMESA KENYA Operate through subcommittees; Mentorship and life skills, Resource Mobilization, Training and capacity building, Research and Development E-letter and Advertising. EXCOM meetings held at least once monthly

OBJECTIVES OF WOMESA To enhance capacity building in order to facilitate realization of the WOMESA vision. To develop mentorship programs. To mobilize adequate resources nationally, regionally and internationally to enhance operations of WOMESA. To establish and nurture smart partnerships with stakeholders To undertake a rigorous membership recruitment To undertake research for advancement of women and development of the maritime sector

WOMESA ACTIVIES 2015/2016 TRAINING/CAPACITY BUILDING Participation in the first National Maritime Conference by KMA held in February 2015 which was opened by HE president and attended by IMO Secretary General.

WOMESA ACTIVIES 2015/2016 TRAINING/CAPACITY BUILDING Advocating / lobbying through viable scholarship and fellowship opportunities to have members advance their careers through capacity building. 2 members benefited from IMO’s “Women in Port Management Seminar” conducted in Le Havre in Jan 2016

WOMESA ACTIVIES 2015/2016 TRAINING/CAPACITY BUILDING A leadership training has been scheduled for April 2016. Training program for fisherwomen around Lake Victoria region is under development to improve their skills and livelihood

WOMESA ACTIVIES 2015/2016 AMBASSADORSHIP Ms. Elizabeth Marami (Marine Officer) has been across Kenya, with the President, in print Media being interviewed met the SG PMAESA. Also been to Ethiopia, Giving WOMESA Kenya a lot of visibility
