6. Nuclear Feb 26 th – President Obama is right to use nuclear power to wean the country from polluting fossil fuels. The question of where to dispose nuclear waste has not been answered. Nuclear energy is cheap, but construction of plants is not. The Congressional Budget Office said in 2008 that it would take a gas tax of $48 per tonne to make it a profitable alternative. The US Congress in 2008 gave final approval to an agreement facilitating nuclear cooperation between the United States and India.
