Gasunie is one of the biggest gas infrastructure companies in Europe. Within the company, we give safety the highest priority; it forms the basis of our license to operate. We abide by the strictest safety, health and environmental standards, both for our own employees, external contractors and the surroundings. Gasunie’s safety policy is thus characterised by a proactive approach which is designed to prevent accidents, incidents and hazardous situations.
3
At every Gasunie location, it must be clear in an instant what hazardous situations could arise and what emergency procedures must be put in place. The emergency exits must also be clearly visible. Good health and safety indicators can prevent unclear, annoying and even dangerous situations. Health and safety indicators (H&S indicators) make an important contribution to safe working practices and to welfare at work. Each employee (both Gasunie in-house staff and external contractors) must therefore be aware of H&S indicators and abide by them. You must never start work without the express permission of the site supervisor. Health and safety signs

Old and new icons Together with the new standard, effective since January 2013, new icons have also been introduced. The new icons will be implemented at the new Gasunie facilities. At existing facilities the old icons will remain in use, as can be seen on the photographs. They will be replaced at a later date, as the regulations do not require replacement as of yet. Below are examples of the old and the new icons. Warnings New Old Triangular sign Yellow centre Black edge Icons in black

Safety demarcation Safety demarcation is an indication or cordoning off of specific areas at the facility, obstacles or zones. A yellow-black demarcation indicates that dangerous activities are carried out within the demarcated area. It is prohibited to enter the demarcated area; only those people that have to carry out activities in this area are allowed to enter, and only after receiving express permission from the officer responsible for this area. A red-white demarcation indicates general danger. Accessing these areas is only allowed after receiving express permission from the officer responsible for this area (licence holder) Acoustic and optical signs The following sound signals can be used: Evacuation signal Fire alarm Gas alarm
