THE DOHA DASH CONCEPT Mass participation running events are extremely popular around the world and are really taking off in the Arabian Gulf and Professional Sports Group are extremely proud to launch the inaugural ‘DOLPHIN ENERGY DOHA DASH’ running festival that takes place on Qatar National Sports Day 2013 (12 th February). The Doha Dash offers something for everybody with 5km, 3km and 1km runs and a 1km walk taking place in the unique setting of the Losail International Circuit. QATAR NATIONAL SPORTS DAY The aim of Qatar National Sports Day is to engage the population of Qatar in sporting activity. The Doha Dash is a ready made event to service these needs and offers the ideal outlet for people to participate with colleagues, family and friends. THE RACES All of the races in the Doha Dash take place on the track at Losail and start and finish in the home straight, with warm-ups for each race taking place in the pit lane. 5km race – This race is open to anybody aged 12 and over and will see runners complete 1 full lap of the International Circuit. 3km race – This race is open to all and is aimed at those who want to sample the experience of mass participation running but do not want to push themselves too hard 1km race – This race is aimed at children under 10 and takes place along the Pit lane and back down the Home straight for a Grandstand finish. Wave starts will be for 5 to 8 year olds, 8 to 10 year olds and 10 to 12 year olds. 1km Walk – This race is predominently aimed at local ladies who want to participate but don’t want to run CHARITY Charity plays an important part of any community running event. Running events give individuals the fulfillment of completing a challenge but also through their efforts the chance to give back. MARKETING PSG will source various media partners to promote The Doha Dash in the following ways: - Advertisements within Qatari newspapers and magazines - Dedicated website for the Doha Dash - Social media engagement: Facebook, Twitter - Posters / flyers distributed to local schools, malls, hotels and clubs - Partnership working with Schools Olympic Program - Integrated marketing and communications plan to maximize the benefits to partners and encourage participation RACE DAY On race day, the Doha Dash will be a bustling family event with a wide variety of activities. The large Festival Village in the pit lane and garages will feature the following: - Live music -Have-a-go sports area -Health Zone -Inflatable sports -Sponsor showcasing -Children’s activities -Food and beverage -Charity showcase The emphasis is on fun and fitness and the Festival Village will have many interactive activities that visitors can come and try for themselves. Post race, participants are encouraged to stay at the venue and soak up the entertainment and atmosphere while enjoying their post race breakfast.
