Burglary There were 3 Burglaries were reported this week. Egmont Street: On 11/8 between 0100 and 0443 hrs suspect “jimmied” open a basement door and stole multiple items of value including a camera, laptop, printer, etc. Newton Street: Time frame of break is sometime between Saturday 11-5-14 @ 0800 hrs and 1414 hrs 11-17-14. Entry gained by defeating the front door with body pressure. Laptop computer and jewelry targeted. Thornton Road: On 11/17 at 1907 hrs suspect entered through an unlocked the rear first floor window and subsequently rummaged through multiple drawers and rooms before taking an unknown amount of jewelry.

Special Attention & Noteworthy Incidents Fraud: On 11/11 at 1130 hrs a local business received a call from a person stating they were “Jennifer” from Nstar. Caller stated electric to the business would be shut off in 30 minutes if money was not immediately paid for an overdue bill. Victim bought Green Dot Money Cards and provided the PIN numbers. Caller left a call back number of 1-800-959-9866. On 11/7 at 0500 hrs Victim received a call from 209-840-6668 stating they were from a company called “Urgent Tech Help (UTH)”. The voice on the line sounded to be of Indian accent and the individual identified as “Max”. Max told Vic his computer was sending spam and the company could clean up victims hard drive. Victim agreed and the company remotely operated victims computer for over 3 hours and charged money for the services. Victim gave Max his credit card number which was declined for fraudulent activity. Suspect subsequently demanded Green Dot Money Card payment. After initial payment, suspect demanded another payment which victim initially refused, but changed his mind when Max locked victim out of his computer.
