You will now see the battery meters as shown 1 to keep the device running at optimum speed, regularly close unused applications by going to Start – Settings – System – Memory - Running Programs and then select Stop or Stop all as desired 2

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved security setting a password 1 either create a basic 4 digit numeric password 2 or a more complex alphanumeric one you can set your M3100 to have a password, prompted by a preset period of inactivity on the device - to do this, go to Start - Settings and click on the lock icon shown (right) from here, you can select the time after which the password is to activate, and then enter either a numeric 1 or alphanumeric code 2

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved you can turn the phone on or off, independently of other functions, but the phone function must be on for you to make or receive calls tap the Network symbol in the title bar and press on the option Turn on flight mode within Comm Manager you can also choose to turn the phone function on or off when the phone is on you will see a network signal when the phone is off you will see a cross, as shown getting started turning the phone on and off

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved from the Today screen, press the right soft key on the device press New in the bottom left hand corner, and fill in the details of the new contact as shown, ensuring you store mobile number and email address in the correct fields you don’t have to fill in all the fields, but will need to fill in mobile number and email address if you want to use these to send messages to these people when complete, press ok to change the details you have stored for a contact, tap on the name in the Contacts screen, then choose Menu from the bottom left hand corner of the screen and then Edit storing a contact Orange SPV M3100contacts

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved copying contacts you can quickly and easily copy contacts from your SIM card to the M3100 memory from the start menu, tap Programs – Accessories - SIM Manager (shown below) the M3100 will now load and display all of your SIM card contacts press Tools in the bottom menu bar and choose Select All press Tools again and select Save to Contacts the M3100 will now copy all your SIM card contacts to the main directory on the device please note that contacts must be stored in the main memory to enable them to be used for enhanced phonebook options - when you press the contacts icon, the device displays the internal phonebook first, then SIM card entries below contacts

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved call features choosing whether to answer a call when you receive a call the name and number of the caller is displayed on the screen – if the name of the caller is not in your Contacts list only the phone number will be visible and if the number is withheld then Private will be displayed when you are on a call you can adjust the volume using the jog wheel on the left side of your phone. end key press to end a call, or to busy a call, press and hold to lock the keypad talk key press to answer a call, or to make an outgoing call

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved when in the phone application, press speed dial tap Menu - New in the bottom right hand corner and then select the contact you want to add the speed dial for enter the speed dial location (between 2 and 99, 1 is preset to the Answer Phone) you want to use for this contact press ok in the top right hand corner to save to call an entry, using speed dialling, press and hold the number relating to the contact you wish to call for two-digit entries press the first digit then press and hold to second one to check your speed dial list, press the icon from the phone screen to view current saved entries, you can also dial from here, by tapping on the number icon call features speed dialling

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved messaging reading your text messages when you receive a new text message an alert will appear briefly on the home screen (shown right) tap Reply to write a reply to the message tap on Menu and then select whether to Delete, Call the sender, Save as Read or Dismiss to read later Unread messages will remain highlighted in the inbox view (shown left) to enter your inbox, tap on the text or envelope icon unread emails will also appear, as shown left, and can be accessed by tapping the relevant icon

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved Once you have entered your inbox, you can send and receive messages tap on New to begin creating your message you will now see the new message screen (shown below) - you can enter the number or email address straight into the space provided, or tap Menu - add Recipient, at the bottom of the screen to choose a contact from your phonebook messaging sending text messages (1)

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved to open an email, tap on the email with your stylus and it will open if you have opened an invitation to a meeting, you will be given the option to accept the meeting in the bottom left of the screen (if you have opened an email, this will say Reply) clicking on Menu will give you a list of further options, shown below receiving emails Calendar invitationEmail receiving emails

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved to send an email, enter your inbox, as shown previously: tap on Menu - Go To - Outlook E-mail tap on New to begin creating your message - either enter the email address in the space provided, or tap in the To field to enter your address book compose the mail in the space provided and tap on the Send icon, once you are ready to send the email sending emails the email will now be saved to your outbox and will be sent next time you synchronise - you can either wait for a custom sync to occur (if applicable) or you can initiate the sync by pressing Menu - Send/Receive to add an attachment: tap on Menu - Insert - Picture, Voice note or File whilst writing the email, then navigate to the attachment using your File explorer sending emails

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved calendar using the calendar (1) from the Today screen, press Start - Programs and select calendar from the Program list, and then find the day you want to create an entry for 1 tap on Menu - New appointment and fill in the details of the appointment - tap on OK when complete 2 1 use the arrows to scroll to the date required, then tap on Menu, New Appointment 2 fill in the details of the appoint- ment then press OK when done

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved synchronising contacts and tasks before you connect your M3100 make sure you have installed the Microsoft ® ActiveSync™ software that came with your M3100 you can synchronise your other information by connecting your M3100 to your PC or laptop using the USB cable provided connect your M3100 to your PC and ActiveSync™ will launch automatically - the first time you connect you will be asked to set your synchronisation preferences ActiveSync™

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved when someone leaves a message on your Answer Phone, a spool symbol will appear on the display (as shown right) to listen to your messages press and hold 1 (or dial 123) to call your Orange Answer Phone, or tap on the voicemail text at the bottom of the screen press any of the shortcut keys below, whilst listening to your Messages, for the following actions: 1 - start the message again2 - save the message 3 - delete the message4 - send a reply 5 - send message to another user7 - rewind 10 secs 8 - skip to the next message9 - fast forward 10 secs # - call the person who left the message (providing number not withheld) Answer Phone checking for messages

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved Answer Phone personalise your greeting your Orange Answer Phone comes with a standard greeting, but you can record your own personal greeting, so that your callers know they've got through to you call your Answer Phone, by pressing and holding the 1 key listen to the simple steps and select option 3, then option 1, then option 1 again record your greeting followed by the # key press 2 to save it

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved Answer Phone set up a PIN number for added Answer Phone security, you can set up your Orange Answer Phone to request a PIN number each time you want to listen to your messages: call your Answer Phone, by pressing and holding the 1 key select option 3, then option 2 enter your chosen Answer Phone PIN, which should be between 4 and 10 digits, followed by the # key press 1 to save your Answer Phone PIN

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved listen to your messages from another phone to listen to your messages from any other phone, call 07973 100 123 and follow the voice prompts to listen to your messages from another Orange mobile, dial the answer phone, press star when the call connects, and then follow the voice prompts to do this, you will need to have set up a PIN number, as shown previously, before you call the above numbers Answer Phone

Orange SPV M3100 Business Customer Training © Orange PCS all rights reserved create an Answer Phone group list you can create Answer Phone group lists, allowing you to send pre-recorded messages to groups of up to 25 people at a time press and hold 1 to call your Answer Phone press 3 for personal options, and then press 3 again for group list options press 1 to create a group list and follow the voice prompts to send a message to a group, follow the steps in “How to send a message”, on the previous page, then enter the group number where you would have previously entered the mobile number Answer Phone
