President’s & Merit Scholarships Admission Average ScholarshipAmount 95% or above President’s Scholarship of Distinction $2,000 Entrance Scholarship, PLUS a $1,500 International Experience Award**, or a $1,500 Research Award**, or both **available to claim after Year One, if student achieves a minimum 80% average. 90%-94.9% President’s Scholarship $2,000 Entrance Scholarship 85%-89.9%Merit Scholarship$1,000 Entrance Scholarship

Other Waterloo Scholarships Up to 1,500 additional entrance scholarships are awarded annually. Values range from $500 to $80,000 Most are one-time awards; some are paid out over 4 academic years, based on specified renewal criteria. Some are given to the top students in addition to the President’s or Merit Scholarships; some are given to students below 85%. Most scholarships do not require an application; exceptions are listed on the Find Out More website. Admission Information Form, Euclid Math Contest, etc Award decisions will be sent by letter or e-mail by mid-May. uwaterloo.ca/findoutmore/financing

External Scholarships Students are encouraged to seek other scholarship opportunities outside of the ones offered by the university. For example: High school guidance offices Local service organizations: e.g. Lion’s Club, Kiwanis, etc. Student’s workplace Employee dependent scholarship programs through parents’ workplace On-line scholarship catalogues or websites www.scholarshipscanada.com yconic.com www.univcan.ca

Scholarships after First Year Numerous undergraduate scholarships and awards for students beyond first year (upper-year). Many scholarships do not require an application as they are awarded to the top students in a program or Faculty. Some do require an application as they are based on a variety of criterion such as academics, achievements and/or leadership in extracurricular or volunteer activities, participation in international study or work experiences, etc. Undergraduate Awards Database: uwaterloo.ca/student-awards-financial-aid

Bursaries Entrance Bursaries - value - $500 to $4,000 Eligibility Ontario resident Financial need MUST apply for OSAP by June 15, 2016 Attending university/college for the first time in September 2016 Deadline to apply: April 15, 2016 Apply by logging into Quest or Quest mobile. You’ll find the Entrance Bursary link under Finances UW Bursaries – automatic and paper

Will OSAP cover all of my costs? Projected costs for 8 months: $19,913 - $31,976 Maximum OSAP for 8 months: $12,240 - $17,200* *Includes maximum loan funding, full CSG-LI, full OAG and OTG The OSAP program is designed to assist eligible students who do not have the resources to help meet the costs of post-secondary education.

Applying For OSAP Apply online - it’s free! 2016/17 application will be available in May website: osap.gov.on.ca Apply no later than recommended date of June 15 th No obligation estimate Signature pages and any required supporting documentation can be sent to FAO or uploaded through OSAP website Funds released starting in September

Family Contribution OSAP expects a Family Contribution based on income levels Savings & RESP Free room and board Planning Recalculate/reprioritize monthly family budget Refinance current loans

Personal loans or Student Line of Credit Major banks: TD Canada Trust, CIBC, Royal, Scotia and Bank of Montreal all offer Line of Credit Varying interest rates – usually 1% - 2% above prime Shop around for the best deal
