Describe the policies of the tokugawa and Qing rulers, to include Oda Nobunaga. The Tokugawa period (1603-1868) was an era of oppressive “feudal” rule. This view, hierarchical divisions between samurai, peasant, artisan, and merchant were strictly maintained. Nobunaga was born Oda Kippôshi, the second son of Oda Nobuhide (1508 -1549), a minor lord whose family once served the Shiba shugo. Nobuhide was a skilled warrior, and spent much of his time fighting the samurai of Mikawa and Mino.

Analyze the impact of population growth and its impact on the social structure. Population growth, especially at a dramatic change can change nearly everything in a society. The jobs change, industrialization occurs and makes the area more metropolitan. This makes a lot more money, but this extra money is needed to support the new people. The bad thing is that overpopulation can occur and this is very hazardous.

Describe the geographical extent of the ottoman empire during the rule of suleyman the magnificent, the Safavid Empire, etc. The Ottoman Empire reached a size of 4.03 Million sq. miles or 10,450,000 sq. km spanning over three continents. The continents were Africa, Asia, and Europe. Suleyman was the builder of the Ottoman empire, and perhaps the greatest Sultan in the Ottoman Empire.

Explain the ways in which these Muslim empires influenced religion, law and the arts in their part. At this time period, the Islamic religion was the most powerful religion around. They would simply make their opposition follow their religion and rules. The ones who would did not give into the new change would often be killed or beaten. The Muslims had full control of the law system as well, due to similar means of change.

How did the men below use science to change our world view? The Scientific revolution was a huge change for everyone around this time period. All of these men were brilliant for their time period, and basically turned into leaders, just with their knowledge. No one before them had the knowledge that these men possessed.

How did the following men change politics and society ? John locke, widely known as the Father of Classical Liberalism, was an English philosopher and physician regarded as one of the most influential of Enlightenment thinkers. François-Marie Arouet, known by his nom de plume Voltaire, was a French Enlightenment writer, historian and philosopher famous for his wit, his attacks on the established Catholic Church.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau was a Genevan philosopher, writer, and composer of 18th-century Romanticism of French expression. Montesquieu, Charles- Louis de Secondat, Baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu, generally referred to as simply Montesquieu, was a French social commentator and political thinker who lived during the Age of Enlightenment.

What made these men absolute rulers? Louix XIV, tsar Peter the Great, and Tokugawa Ieyasu were all absolute rulers. The reason that they all were considered absolute rulers, is because they had full control of everything in which they ruled. Louix XIV was the most absolute ruler out of all of these men. He led his country with a iron fist and didn’t let anything get by him, including the control of the church.

What were the causes and results of the revolutions? The English revolution (1689), was one of the first major revolutions. This revolution occurred because of unfair taxes being put upon the common people. The American revolution occurred by similar circumstances, and the people of America fought against Brittish rule and won our countries independence.

The French revolution started after the storming of the Bastille. This war was long and bloody, nothing about it was pretty. The Haitain revolution was the first succesful slave revolt, and they took over their masters and gained independence. The last revolution we learned about was the Latin American revolution, this was the longest revolution, it expanded over seventeen years.

How did Napoleans rise to power, defeat, effect Europe? Napolean Bonaparte was a very powerful man, although he only stood about 5.7 with his boots on. He has techinally never been defeated on the battlefield, although he covered up a loss with his own newspaper that lied. He was the most powerful man of this time period. Until, he got too cocky and took on the huge russian army. His defeat and demise was on the battlefield of waterloo.

How were westerners involved in the Opium War, the Taiping Rebellion, and Commodore Perry? The people in the east had not been exposed to any outside influence until this time period. When the westerners finally came to the east through exploration, they wanted to do everything that west offered. One of the worst things brought over was opium, and the western people got the chinese hooked on this drug and it was so addicting that all they wanted was more. Commodore perry opened the gateway to the east.

What was the impact of Adam smith and Karl Marx writings? Both Adam Smith and Karl Marx were atheist freethinkers, adherents of the enlightenment. They both liked the idea that the society and economy should be focused on improving the lives of ordinary people, and wanted to make an end to the exploitation of ordinary people by the elite. They differed heavily on the tool, the economy. While Adam Smith believed in a free market that improves individual lives, Karl Marx was against the exploitation of ordinary people by employers and customers on the free market.

What is similar between Germany under Otto Von Bismarkand Japan under Emporer Meiji? Both of these men led their countries much like that of a Dictator. These men were strong believers in nationalism and imperialism. They imposed horrible taxes on simple workers and when they couldn’t pay this, they were either put in jail or set for tenacy. In other world, they were not fair to the poor people.

What was the reaction to the Russo- Japanese war and Young Turks? There was a lot more violence after the Japanese war. After this, however each country gained independence and was semi free.

How did imperialism affect Africa and Asia? Imperialism affected Africa and Asia a lot. These countries in this time period were lost and not really united countries. The power house countries were all fighting for control of these big nations. Imperialism caused a lot of turmoil in these countries and causes slavery and a lot of deaths.
