UNIVERSITY OF JYVÄSKYLÄ Optima Online Learning Environment Optima is a Web-based online learning environment It is used for group or individual work (e.g. for the electronic distribution of course materials, for completing and turning in assignments, for discussion boards, chats etc.) For teachers and students, Optima offers opportunities to collaborate with teachers and other students (even while being abroad) A typical approach is ”blended approach” in which contact instruction and distance instruction are combined For more information, please contact optima-support@jyu.fi

UNIVERSITY OF JYVÄSKYLÄ Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Skills Both students and teachers have a wide range of ICT skills Students’ ICT skills –Essential professional skills –Insufficient ICT skills may have negative impact on student’s success 1.Generic ICT skills (using most commonly used applications such as Microsoft Word, ability to manage data/files, ”reasonable use” of e-mail etc.) 2.Familiarity with the specific systems used by the Jyväskylä University (Korppi, Optima) –Information Management Centre offers training as a supplementary service
