What is A.V.I.D.? I am not going to college just because my parents and my teachers say I should. IT’S MY DECISION!

Who should be in A.V.I.D.? We’re looking for students who are: *excited about learning *willing to work hard *serious about their future

Is A.V.I.D. right for you? Do you love to learn new information? Do you worry about going to middle school and having 8 different teachers? Do you love school? Do you want to go to college? Are you proud of your grades? Would you like to do even better? Do you sometimes feel like you’re different? *

Is A.V.I.D. right for you? Do you like dreaming about your future? Do you set goals for yourself? Are you interested in learning about how to stay organized? Do you want to know how to get on track for the career you are interested in? If you answered “yes” to most of these questions, then AVID may be just the program for you!

How can you join A.V.I.D. next year at Tyrone Middle School? 1. Your 5 th teachers may recommend your for AVID.

How can you join A.V.I.D. next year at Tyrone Middle School? 2. Your 5 th grade report card grades, FCAT scores, attendance, and behavior data will be reviewed by the AVID Team at TMS.

How can you join A.V.I.D. next year at Tyrone Middle School? 3. If you are selected, then you will be placed in a 6 th grade AVID elective class next year for a 6 week trial period.

How can you join A.V.I.D. next year at Tyrone Middle School? 4. After 6 weeks, you will either be EXITED from AVID or ACCEPTED. If you are ACCEPTED, then you will sign the AVID contract!

What does it take to remain A.V.I.D.? You must agree to: 1. Remain in the AVID elective class all year.

What does it take to remain A.V.I.D.? You must agree to: 2. Maintain good grades (A’s, B’s & C’s).

What does it take to remain A.V.I.D.? You must agree to: 3. Enroll in at least 1 advanced class: Adv. Reading, Adv. Language Arts, Adv. Science, or Adv. Math

What does it take to remain A.V.I.D.? You must agree to: 4. Satisfactory behavior and attendance in all classes.

What does it take to remain A.V.I.D.? You must agree to: 5. Organize the AVID binder with assignments and Cornell notes from all core classes.

What does it take to remain A.V.I.D.? You must agree to: 6. Complete all homework assignments in each class.

What does it take to remain A.V.I.D.? You must agree to: 7. Participate in WEEKLY AVID tutorials with college tutors.

In conclusion… AVID is NOT for everyone. AVID is for the college-bound student! Is AVID right for you? Your teachers will decide!
