It was in the early part of the nineteenth century when Faraday realised that since electric current produced magnetic fields, that perhaps a magnetic field could produce an electric current.
3
To produce a current in the wire, work must be done on the wire, which means moving the wire across the magnet of vice versa.
4
The arrangement of the hand is the same but this is known as the dynamo effect, or for generating current
5
The product of the magnetic flux density (B) and the area (A) is called the magnetic flux ( ) = BA cosθ Magnetic flux has the derived units of (Tm 2 ) and is given the special unit Weber (Wb) Magnetic flux has the derived units of (Tm 2 ) and is given the special unit Weber (Wb)
6
As before, if the loop of wire is parallel to the field, then θ = 90 and cos θ = 0 and the magnetic flux = 0.
7
In practical terms, motors and generators NEVER use just one wire. We therefore need to know the flux through a number, N, loops of wire. This is the flux linkage and defined as – Flux Linkage = NФ Measured in Weber turns
