National Honor Society Pillars Scholarship: cumulative GPA of 3.75 (weighted or un-weighted) Service: voluntary contributions to community Leadership: leaders are resourceful, good problem solvers, and idea contributors Character: students of good character are cooperative, demonstrates high standards of honesty and reliability, shows courtesy, concern, and respect for others, maintains a clean disciplinary record

How to become a member Must pass all of the checks with transcript, teachers and discipline. Must be a member of one other club/activity.

How to become a member Fill out the paperwork! Sign up for Remind! Fill out the Google Form! Pay $10 dues in A208 or B266. Deadline is Friday, Feb. 12 at 4:00.

Checking Transcripts Scholarship We will be checking all of your high school grades this week (9 th grade on). No D’s or F’s allowed.

Discipline record Leadership No ISP No multiple detentions We will be checking with Assistant Principals on your discipline record.

Checking with Teachers Character Teachers will give input on your character. Cheating. Discipline issues in class.

Application Write legibly Name on form is name that goes on NHS certificate and program Due by February 12 th to Mrs. Taylor (A208) or Mrs. Wilson (B266). NO EXCEPTIONS

NHS Dues Dues are $10 (cash or check, no cards) Checks made to Broken Arrow High School Turned in to Mrs. Taylor in A208 or Mrs. Wilson in B266 DUE BY FEBRUARY 12 th !!!! No exceptions!

Once Deadlines are Met Attend Induction Ceremony Attendance is mandatory Anyone not attending will not become a member

Induction Ceremony Monday, February 29th @ 6:30pm-Broken Arrow PAC Required event for membership Anyone not attending will not become a member

Excused Induction Absence Must request permission in writing by Friday, February 26 NO Exceptions!

After Induction Attend all meetings. 2 absences allowed per year. Complete 15 hours of community service.

15 Service Hours needed Seniors—to wear the honor stole at graduation you must have yours in by April 29. Juniors & Sophomores—to avoid probation for next fall, you must have yours in by May 6.

Hours 15 Hours Limit of 5 from school service Remaining 10 From community service Limit of 2 hours helping teachers in classroom There is no limit on service outside of the school!! No more than 10 hours from any one activity

Influence You are representing NHS in your classes and around school. Don’t cut corners by copying or letting others copy your papers. Work together to understand concepts and help other students if they don’t understand something.

Influence Be a positive leader in your classes and on campus. Stand up for what is right. Around campus—pick up trash, park responsibly, use appropriate language.
