© GS1 US® 2013 The anti-trust reminder requires that we ask everyone not to engage in discussions regarding pricing, deal-making, selling, promoting or other activities which could be viewed as anti- competitive. If anyone believes the discussions are approaching these boundaries, please say so and the discussion will be halted while a GS1 US participant checks with legal counsel before proceeding. You are also reminded that the Code of Conduct requires we respect one another’s differences in opinion, act professionally and engage to work together for the common good. 2 ANTI-TRUST CODE OF CONDUCT

© GS1 US® 2013 RECENT Are finished good kits labeled with their own UDI? Argument or counterpoint is all finished goods components (or children) within the kit are individually transact able and have their own UDI. direction on reporting finished good kits to the new FDA GUDID database? 6

© GS1 US® 2013 REPLY 1.The UDI is still a draft regulation with 280 responses to be reviewed and replied to by the FDA; 2. GS1 workgroups that are close to resolution but must be viewed in an entirety for a cohesive reply; –non reuse of healthcare GTINs; –level below the each ( in healthcare ) –healthcare kits components workgroup. –Issuing agency discussion 3. There is also the GDSN / UDID test. 7

© GS1 US® 2013 QUESTION TODAY FROM SME MFR We are is the process of ordering new printer on our production lines to be able to incorporate the information we need in our bar code, (GTIN, lot number, expiration date) using a GS1 DataMatrix bar code. Do you know if additional software will be needed to be purchased for the printer to “talk to” the UDI database? Or if that is even needed? 8

© GS1 US® 2013 GS1 US ANSWER You would not connect your printers to the UDID. You would connect your master data system (Item files or Product Catalog) to the UDID. The printers will need more individual instance data (Production Information) which is not needed in the UDID. There are also other elements which will be needed in the UDID which will never be on the packaging such as the market authorizations. The loading of UDID can be accomplished manually with a direct interface to the UDID, electronically through the creation of a specific SPL7 message from your backend to their backend, or through the use of the Global Data Synchronization Network (GDSN). More details on these will be available when the rule is released. 9

© GS1 US® 2013 GTIN ALLOCATION RULES FOR HEALTHCARE V.7 AS OF THIS WEBINAR Voluntary standards developed by GS1 Healthcare providing simple examples tailored for the global Healthcare sector Consistent with the general GTIN Allocation Rules Products in scope: –Pharmaceuticals (OTC and Rx) –Medical devices Local regulations may apply and take precedence over this voluntary guideline Available online at www.gs1.org/healthcare 11

© GS1 US® 2013 DATA FLOW VIA THE GLOBAL DATA SYNCHRONIZATION NETWORK, GDSN 12 Data Pools provide data that is standards conformant, and interoperable in the GDSN. The data pool performs the transactions of sending and receiving validated product information between partners inside or outside the data pool. Step 1: Load Data Select one data pool as a SINGLE point of entry to the GDSN. GS1 Global Registry: A single repository where basic data is registered – identifies the data pool location of source data Step 3: Subscription Request Step 4: Publish Data Step 2: Register Data Step 5: Recipient Confirmation

© GS1 US® 2013 UDID POPULATION USING GDSN Manufacturers can use the GDSN as a single point of entry for publishing an item’s master data –Supply Chain and Market data to GPOs and Providers –UDID data to the FDA and other similar UDI databases globally Benefits to the approach –Single entry platform –Population of data one to many –GPOs and Providers receive public UDID data elements GDSN has begun modifications for UDID –Additional attributes needed –Process flow for data pools to generate and send SPL messages to the FDA 13 GDSN MANUFACTURER GPO HOSPITAL/PROVIDER FDA UDID
