Feel free to take a moment to look around (lots to see)! Then please find your child’s desk and get as comfortable as possible. You can pull up an extra chair from the back if needed. Please find the student information sheet underneath your packet and make any updates or check that it’s correct, add dismissal info, and sign. I will take these to the office for you. Your child would get a kick out of a new bookmark. Decorate it as you’d like. Write a note, use some stickers, make it as simple or fancy as you’d like! We will be starting shortly. Welcome!

The kids are expected to be responsible and self-managing. Organization, accuracy, and clear communication are being taught and focused upon. Quality work is expected at all times. Goal setting is crucial. Live the Pledge I am a safe, responsible, respectful grizzly. I have greatness inside of me. I will use my greatness to solve problems and make good choices, to be the best me I can be. 5th grade is a big year! Effort Teamwork Positive Attitude Work In On Time Cooperation Independence
7
We came up with the following rules as guidelines for life in P-4 Be Respectful Be Responsible Be Kind Be Safe Have Fun!!
8
Students earn a paycheck for doing their jobs. Pay rent for desk. Earn bonuses or incur fines. Auctions once a trimester.
9
Time Management If we excel in this it means… Possible extra Read Aloud Games like MadLibs or Around the World Math Maybe… a minute early to recess. And so on…. Grizz Gems These will be earned as a class when Mrs. Woodard or another staff member compliments our class for displaying exceptionally good behavior. When we have filled our gem jar we will celebrate with P.A.T. As a class we'll vote for which educational activity we'll enjoy as a reward for our great behavior! Bonuses Often I’ll hand out bonuses for grand choices…setting a good example… personal improvement/progress… ect. Positive Consequences
10
Reminders: If a student presents inappropriate behavior I will remind them of the procedure or rule that is not being followed. Often the reminder is a visual queue so I’m not “calling students out.” Logical Consequences: Depending on what’s happening, I’ll often let the natural consequence take care of the issue. IE: off task = lose recess to finish task forgot work = no homework all star bonus Reflection: When appropriate kids could be asked to complete a reflection write up. This provides a chance to think about what happened and how to avoid the issue or make a better decision next time. I will review the plan with the child once it's complete and together we’ll look forward to better choices. Escalation: If necessary we will email or call a student’s family, or a child could be referred to Mrs. Keegan or Mrs. Otley. Other Consequences

They need some additional practice and support. 1=BELOW STANDARD - The student is performing well below standard. This is an area of focus and concern.

Every Friday your child will bring home any passed back work. If it’s something that needs to be signed or returned we’ll note it in the comments on the signature sheet. Please review their work. This is their homework, or passed back assessments, projects, or other work. This is also where other correspondence such as administrative forms, permission slips, flyers, ect. will go home.
