Arrive in Halong, board the Bhaya Cruises, private charter for 2 days – 1 night program in the bay. A natural wonder of the world and one of Vietnam’s five UNESCO World Heritage Sites, magnificent Halong Bay lies 200 km to the east of Hanoi. Over three thousand jagged limestone islands emerge from the emerald green waters of Halong Bay. While some islands are no more than large rocks others are much more substantial and contain huge cathedral-like caves of stalactites and stalagmites. 9 Day 4: To Da Nang – Hoi An Option: Tai Chi session on board in early morning Visit Sung Sot cave before disembarkation. Transfer to Hai Phong (2 hours). Lunch at Harbour View hotel Afternoon flight from Hai Phong to Da Nang (VN1673 1700 – 1845). On arrival, drive to Hoi An for express check-in. Once known as Faifo, Hoi An was one of the orient’s major trading ports in the 16th and 17th centuries. After the Thu Bon River linking Hoi An to the sea silted up ocean going ships were no longer able to sail into town and trade moved 30km up the coast to Tourane, known nowadays as Danang. 10 Day 5: Visit Hoi An - Hue Despite the passing of 200 years and the ravages of weather and war, the centre of Hoi An remains much the same as it was in its heyday. A walking tour is the best way to see the wooden-fronted houses that once belonged to the town’s prosperous merchants, the Japanese-covered Bridge and the wonderful market. Hoi An is one of the best places in Vietnam to shop for souvenirs at bargain prices including silk, handicrafts, antiques and paintings. Flight VN1316 10:00 – 11:20 Arrival Ho Chi Minh City, also called Saigon by many locals, pick-up and transfer to Xu lounge for lunch. Luggage will be taken care of at the airport from domestic arrival terminal to the international departure terminal. Pick-up by a fleet of Xe Lam for short visit to the city: Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Ben Thanh market. Drink stop at EON51 bar to have a panoramic view of the city. 17 BIA HOI This is one of the traditional “pastimes” of the Vietnamese. After work, they meet at one of the huge Bia Hoi (beer garden), very popular in Hanoi and all over Vietnam. It is loud and busy as the Vietnamese come to unwind or to meet friends and colleagues. The local restaurant serves local brewed beer whilst also serving local delicacies to accompany the local brew. It is a chance to see up close Vietnamese enjoying themselves. It is not high class and 5*, but it certainly an evening to remember and it brings group very close to a local ambiance. 33 WET RICE CULTIVATION TOUR Bicycle ride to the countryside and through the rice paddle. Arrive at the farm where you will be warmly welcome by the local family who will offer you tea. You will have the chance to visit their house. Your guide will explain the different steps of rice cultivation. Wear traditional farming clothes and conical hats. Start the fun part of the tour: rides on a water buffalo and learn the how to plough, rake, carry water into the rice field, sow, pull up the rice seedlings, transplant rice,..Go back to the house and learn how to make pancakes that you will be able to enjoy. 35 CYCLING IN THE CITADEL CYCLING IN THE CITADEL Hue Citadel is situated on the Northern bank of the Perfume River. The citadel was constructed in 1805 under the reign of Emperor Gia Long and completed in 1832 under the reign of Emperor Ming Mang. Hue royal complex has been officially recognized by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. One of the best way to experience Hue citadel is by bicycle. You will ride around the citadel to experience the local daily life in the citadel. Max. 36 DINNER IN HOI AN STREET Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site. Street dinner appears in nice decoration as a night market right at the heart of Hoi An ancient town, near the Japanese covered bridge.
