BHARAT HEAVY ELECTRICALS LIMITED:- BHEL is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy-related today. BHEL was established more than 50 years ago, ushering in the indigenous Heavy Electrical Equipment industry in India. BHEL manufactures over 180 products under 30 major product groups and caters to core sectors of the Indian Economy.

BHEL has acquired certifications to Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) and Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001) and is also well on its journey towards Total Quality Management. BHEL Installed equipment for over 90,000 MW of power generation for Utilities, Captive and Industrial users.

BHEL Supplied over 25,000 Motors with Drive Control System to Power projects, Petrochemicals, Refineries, Steel, Aluminum, Fertilizer, Cement plants. BHEL Supplied over 2,25,000 MVA transformer capacity and other equipment operating in Transmission & Distribution network up to 400 kV (AC & DC). BHEL is the 12th largest company in the world in Power Plant Equipments manufacturing and the largest in India.

Steam turbine:- The modern steam turbine was invented in 1884 by the Englishman Sir Charles Parsons, whose first model was connected to a dynamo that generated 7.5 kW (10 hp) of electricity. Size of generators had increased from his first 7.5 kW set up to units of 50,000 kW capacity.

The interior of a turbine comprises several sets of blades, or “buckets”. One set of stationary blades is connected to the casing and one set of rotating blades is connected to the shaft. The sets intermesh with certain minimum clearances, with the size and configuration of sets varying to efficiently exploit the expansion of steam at each stage.

Wind mill:- A windmill is a machine which converts the energy of wind into rotational motion by means of adjustable vanes called sail.

BOILER:- An industrial boiler, originally used for supplying steam to a stationary steam engine.

BHEL turn over:- Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) notched its highest-ever turnover of Rs.34,050 Crore, registering a growth of 21% over the previous year. Profit Before Tax (PBT) surged 31% at Rs.6,353 Crore, during the year. Net Profit for the year is Rs. 4,287 Crore, as against Rs.3,138 crore of last year - a growth of 37%.

In the Power Sector business segment, BHEL secured orders worth Rs.41,976 crore. In terms of power plant equipment, the orders amounted to 16,489 MW. In International Business achieved a physical export order inflow of Rs.3571 Crore during the year, an increase of 9.4% over that of the previous year.

GAIL (India) Limited

Gas Authority of India was renamed GAIL (India) Limited on November 22, 2002. GAIL (India) Ltd. (Gas Authority of India Ltd), India's principal gas transmission and marketing company, was set up by the Government of India in August 1984 to create gas sector infrastructure for sustained development of the natural gas sector in the country. The 2800-km Hazira-Vijaipur-Jagdishpur (HVJ) pipeline became operational in 1991.

During 1991-93, three LPG plants were constructed and some regional pipelines acquired, enabling GAIL to begin its regional gas distribution in various parts of India GAIL began its city gas distribution in Delhi in 1997 by setting up nine CNG stations, catering to the city's vast public transport fleet. In 1999, GAIL set up northern India's only petrochemical plant at Pata.

6, 2010. GAIL (India) Limited has been ranked no.1 company among gas utilities in Asia. Among Energy Companies, which include companies other than Gas utilities also, GAIL has been ranked 22nd in overall performance in the Asia region. GAIL’s Net Profit for the second quarter of the FY 2010-11 increased by 30 percent to Rs. 924 crore. Employees:- 5,000

Products:- Natural gas Petrochemical Fuel Lubricant

Natural gas:- Natural gas is a gas consisting primarily of methane, typically with 0-20% higher hydrocarbons primarily ethane. It is found associated with other fossil fuels, in coal beds, as methane clathrate. It is an important fuel source and a major feedstock for fertilizer.

No Impurities like sulphur, carbon dioxide, traces of oxides of nitrogen. Hence lower corrosion. Has nil moisture content. Customer-friendly fuel as it is easy to transport, store and use.

LPG :- GAIL produces LPG through fractionation, known as Straight Run (SR). GAIL LPG is an eco-friendly fuel and provides a cheaper and effective means of reducing pollution and increasing productivity.

Characteristics of GAIL LPG :- Processed from Natural Gas. Has a high vapour pressure vis-a vis Refinery LPG. Vapourises at atmospheric temperature and pressure. Clean fuel with almost nil unsaturated compounds. Has a higher calorific value than Refinery's LPG and hence gives more value for money. Its homogeneous composition results in more efficient combustion.

Natural gas production by countries in cubic meters per year.

GAIL POWER:- The Combined Cycle Power Plant comprises of two Gas Turbines (52 MW each), one Steam Turbine (52 MW) and 2 Heat Recovery Steam Generators. Commercial production was declared with the commissioning of the Gas Turbines in open cycle mode in December 2001.

Gail turn over :- GAIL’s Turnover increases 32% to Rs. 23,776 crore in 2008-09from Rs. 18,008 crore in 2007-08. Net Profit up 8% at Rs. 2,804 crore. GAIL surpasses physical performance targets in natural gas, polymers and liquid hydrocarbon segments. The Gross Margin during the year 2008-09 increased by 8 percent to Rs. 4,851 crore from Rs. 4,506 crore.

The Net Profit during 2008-09 was Rs. 630 crore against Rs. 722 crore in the corresponding period last year, mainly due to lower price realization. GAIL continued its excellent physical performance as per its Annual Performance.

THANK YOU
