Our world has many forms of energy such as heat energy, chemical energy, potential energy and solar energy. In today’s modern world, solar power plays an important part in developing today’s society. For instance, water heaters, traffic lights, calculators, cars and even boats now run on solar energy.
4
To create public awareness on the benefits and advantages of using solar energy. To save the environment by reducing carbon emission. To encourage more people to instill the usage of solar energy in daily activities in order to achieve both a developed and eco-friendly community.
5
Using Newton’s second law of motion which states that the resultant force is equal to the rate of change of momentum and takes place in the direction of the change of momentum. ( F = ma, where F=resultant force, m=mass, a=acceleration ) Use an aerodynamic and streamlined body shape for the boat to reduce drag caused by viscosity. From F=ma, - a is directly proportional to F ( force produced by boat must be big to move fast) - a is inversely proportional to m ( m must be small in order to move fast)
6
At maximum brightness, maximum amount of electrical energy is generated by solar cells. This will in turn generate the maximum speed of the boat. A solar cell is equivalent to a DC source with a series variable resistance. If you vary the resistance, the voltage, V across the load and the current I in the circuit both vary in step. In a solar cell, light intensity acts as the variable resistance in the circuit.
7
Air pollution especially those caused by carbon emissions are one of the major factors that causes global warming, greenhouse effect and haze which originates from fuel combustion in factories as well as vehicles. This is why we should start converting to solar power which is eco-friendly and also free to use in carrying out these daily activities.
8
To reduce the usage of fuels in powering boats and replace it by using solar energy which causes no harm on earth and is eco-friendly.
10
Solar cells are also known as photovoltaic cells. They are made from material called semiconductors which is mainly silicon. A certain portion of light is absorbed when light hits the cell. This light is then converted into electrical energy within the cell through the semiconductor.

Solar cells are arranged in series with each other with ( 4 x 3 ) pattern. A circuit connected in series with receive a higher current, I, beca4se in a series circuit, I = I 1 + I 2 + I 3… The solar cells are then connected to the DC motor in a parallel circuit manner. In a parallel circuit, the total voltage, V, is the sum of voltages across a resistor. V= V 1 + V2 + V3
14
Streamlined shape to cut though the water fast. Reduce water resistance. Increases velocity. Teardrop shape reduces drag cause by viscosity.
15
Viscosity is the transfer of momentum in a fluid. It is also the property of a fluid to resist change. A streamlined body shape does not move the water around as much. This red4ces the effects of viscosity on the boat. The boat is then able to move faster since drag been reduced.
16
A propeller blade is essentially a wing, and the theories of lift apply. The reason for a propellers contorted shape, as opposed to a relatively straight wing, is because it is moving in a circular motion, so the further you move out along the blade the faster that slice of the blade is moving and therefore less pitch is needed this results in twisting the angle of attack into a helix.
