Presentation Title Presented by Joe Blow Process Cooling LAKOS JCX and PRX Systems Hector Vigil Steve Geisel

On Today’s Agenda When to offer LAKOS JCX Systems LAKOS Logic for JCX Systems Field Sizing Selling the complete concept

When to use LAKOS JCX Systems LAKOS JCX System are specifically utilized in remote sump or process cooling tower applications JCX Systems are used in low-solids loading heat transfer projects (less than 2000 PPM) Predominantly, the contaminants in the system will be sand, silt, scale and rust. These solids are airborne contaminants, precipitated solids and solids that enter the system via make-up water

When to use LAKOS PRX Systems  LAKOS PRX System are utilized in sump/pit process water loop applications  PRX Systems are used in high-solids loading process water applications  Predominantly, the solids will build up to very high volumes and will vary in size. These solids are a bi- product and a direct result of the process. Such solids include mill scale, metal fines, sand for parts manufacturing, etc.

When to use LAKOS JCX Systems Cooling Towers and Remote Sump Applications When the application calls for a reduction of dirt/solids to protect a process water loop and/or heat transfer equipment

When to use LAKOS JCX Systems Cooling Towers and Remote Sumps accumulate solids Costly and time consuming to clean cooling towers and remote sumps Heavy solids loading may cause unscheduled shutdowns causing down-time and loss of production Solids build up will increase fouling factors, thus increasing energy costs, as well as water and chemical consumption and maintenance and labor.

Often not calculated in ROI… Stainless Steel and Galvanized Steel Cooling Towers

Under-Deposit Corrosion Severe Pitting due to Under-Deposit Corrosion

Under-Deposit Corrosion Loss of Heat Transfer Efficiency.0254 mm Fouling (25 micron) = 6 to 7% Efficiency Loss Super-Enhanced Tubes Fouling at Chiller Tube Bundles Plate and Frame HX

When to use LAKOS JCX Systems Customer is looking for a complete turn-key system Skid Packaged- Plug and Play Separator Pump Package Purge Valve or Solids Recovery Vessel Controls

Sizing sumps-tanks Sweeper Piping installed inside of the cooling tower sump will sweep solids to the separator, thus keeping solids out and away from chiller/process supply lines. Clean source water will reduce solids loading providing energy savings, water/chemical savings and reduce unscheduled shutdowns.

Sizing sumps-tanks

Sizing Criteria 1. Field Sizing - SAE and Metric Units a. Length of Basin (Feet) X Width of Basin (Feet) X 1.5 gpm/ft2 b. Length of Basin (Meters X Width of Basin (Meters) X 3.66 m3/hr/m2 2.JCX Pump Limited to 2000 ppm (then LAKOS PRX to be utilized) 3.LAKOS JCX Package requires flooded suction at centerline of pump suction strainer. a. Domestic Distribution - Consult factory for vertical pump or self priming pump requirements (when flooded suction is not available) b. International Distribution - Consult factory for foot valve and check valve requirements (when flooded suction options are not available)

LAKOS PRX Systems

On Today’s Agenda  When to offer the LAKOS PRX System  Sizing the PRX system for sumps and tanks within the facility  Selling the complete package

Defining a LAKOS PRX (Prep) System A total solution requires more than just getting the solids out of your process. Addressing the tough demands of the process industries, the LAKOS PREP System is designed and engineered to give a total solution - enabling you to get the solids out of your fluid, out of the separator and out of your facility.

When to offer LAKOS PRX systems  Sumps-tanks within the facility  When the application calls for concentration of solids for easy removal  Customer is looking for a complete turn-key system

When to offer LAKOS PRX systems Sumps-tanks within the facility  Sumps and tanks become settling areas  Costly to clean the sumps and tanks as well as causing down-time and loss production  Solid build up causes issues down-stream – pumps-valves-heat exchangers and spray – nozzles

When to offer LAKOS PRX systems When the application calls for concentration of solids for easy removal  Hoppers  55 Gallon drums  Bag housings

When to offer LAKOS PRX systems LAKOS Solids Handling Systems  1 Yard Hopper-SCH-0100  Drum Disposal Package-DDP-5520  Purge Bag Vessel-PBV-0816

When to offer LAKOS PRX systems Customer is looking for a complete turn-key system  Separator  Stand  Purge Valve  Diffuser  Spools  Hopper- Drum Shroud-Purge Bag Vessel

Sizing sumps-tanks  Just like cooling towers the sweeping calculations are based on square footage  The difference are the factors  The key is getting the solids to the separator and away from the process pumps

Sizing sumps-tanks Eductors LAKOS brochure LS-633E

Sizing sumps-tanks Eductor factors Page 2 LS-633E brochure  Lightweight but still settleable  2.00 X Square Footage  Moderate weight solids  2.50 X Square Footage  Heavyweight solids  3.33 X Square Footage  Extra Heavyweight Solids  4.00 X Square Footage Consult factory to confirm

Sizing sumps-tanks The key is getting the solids to the separator and out of the process Extending the life of:  Pumps  Valves  Heat Exchangers  Spray Nozzles

Selling the complete system Most applications call for the separator, purge valve and diffuser  The PRX will include these along with spools, stand and solids handling systems  PRX systems are engineered for the application  PRX systems come standard with accessible separators  When quoting lead with PRX, you can always work back it is hard to work up

In Summary LAKOS PRX Systems  It is better to have the solids end up in the “Solids Handling System” than staying in the process or settling in sumps or tanks  The “E” series and smart purge units are the new standard  Offer the complete solution for the application, you can always work back it is hard to work up
