Writing/Literary Texts. Students write literary texts to express their ideas and feelings about real or imagined people, event, and ideas. Students are expected to: K1st2 nd 14(A) dictate or write sentences to tell a story and put the sentences in chronological sequence; 18(A) write brief stories that include a beginning, middle, and end;

Reflective Questions Knowing that my students will have to write a personal narrative in 4 th grade, how can I best prepare them? What other TEKS outside of the Writing Strands prepare students to write personal narrative?

Writing/Expository and Procedural Texts. Students write expository and procedural or work-related texts to communicate ideas and information to specific audiences for specific purposes. Students are expected to: K1st2 nd 3 rd 15(A) dictate or write information for lists, captions, or invitations. 19(A) write brief compositions about topics of interest to the student; 18(A) create brief compositions that: (i)establish a central idea in a topic sentence; (ii)include supporting sentences with simple facts, details, and explanations; (iii)contain a concluding statement;
