3 How can you tell the difference between the different type of sentences? It is all in their structure! All sentences have different structures. You can decipher the different types of sentences by simply identifying the different clauses in the sentences and the number of clauses in a sentence.

4 What is a clause again? A group of words with a subject & predicate. How many clauses are there? There are 2 different types of clauses.

5 What is the first type of clause? Ask Webbie! So… an independent clause has what 3 things? Subject Verb within a predicate Complete Thought i-n-d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t!

6 What is the second type of clause? Dependent! How can you tell if a clause is dependent? Typically, dependent clauses begin with… Relative Pronouns: that, which, who, whom, whose Subordinating Conjunctions: if, when, because, since, or
