VARSITY LAKES MIDDLE PARENT INVOLVEMENT PLAN 2012-2013

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AT HOME… VLMS hosts a School Choice Open House and an Open House for all VLMS families. Varsity Lakes Middle hosts a 6 th grade Parent Involvement Student Orientation meeting for all incoming 6 th graders. VLMS hosts the SES Provider Fair for all students and parents. VLMS will host three parent-teacher conference nights

Varsity Lakes Compact Varsity Lakes Middle School-Parent Compact 2012-2013 Title I School Varsity Lakes Middle School is a learning community that is dedicated to student success. We believe that families, students, and school staff should work together to help each student reach his/her potential.

Compact Cont. Student Agreement I will work to the best of my ability by doing the following: Believe I can learn and will learn Read for at least 20 minutes, five days a week Come to class on time, ready to learn, and with assignments completed Ask questions when I don’t understand something in class Set aside time every day to complete my homework Know and follow the school and class rules Follow the school’s uniform dress code Regularly talk to my parents and teachers about my progress in school Respect my school, classmates, staff, and family Talk to my parents, teachers, or mentors if not feeling safe at school Student signature __________________________________

Compact Cont. Parent/Guardian Agreement I will help my child succeed in school by doing the following: Talk to my child regularly about the value of education Monitor TV/on-line activities (internet/phone) and make sure that my child reads every day Make sure that my child attends school every day, on time, and with homework completed Support the school’s discipline and uniform dress codes Monitor my child’s progress in school Make every effort to attend school events such as Parent-Teacher Conferences and Open House Ensure that my child gets adequate sleep, regular medical attention, and proper nutrition Participate in shared decision making with school staff and other families for the benefit of students Respect the school, staff, students, and families Family member signature ______________________________________________
