5 Climate: The winters are pleasant with warm days and cool nights Temperatures during the day range between mid 20’ies (in winter) to mid 30’ies (in summer) In the desert, the days are hotter and the nights cooler than the rest of the country. The first rains of the summer arrive beginning/mid November.

6 High season (July - October): Dry period, so animals move towards water sources and therefore easier to see. Temperatures generally pleasant Shoulder season ( April – June & November): April – June: warm but not too hot, migration of huge herds of zebra and wildebeest November: the first rains arrive, so many animals have their babies during November Low season (December – March): Hot and at times humid weather Rainy season so less land area to do game viewing (in Okavango Delta) – more done by boat Good grazing so animals disperse over bigger areas, as they are not dependent on rivers and dams for water. SEASONALITY The early mountain rains in Angola take about 3 months to reach the Okavango Delta by mid year, then creating an oasis in the arid desert that slowly soaks away, never reaches the sea! Game migrates hundreds of kilometres from as far as Zimbabwe to partake in nature’s miracle, to enjoy the plentiful bounty of the season.

7 Tourism to Botswana = Safari Chobe Nxai Pan Kalahari Okavango Delta Moremi Savuti Makgadikgadi Pan Access is long, difficult, or impossible by road (eg in the rainy season), hence mostly flights and shuttle light aircraft taxis are the transfer norm.

8 OKAVANGO DELTA The Okavango Delta (approx. 250 km x 150 km) is formed when flood- waters from highlands in Angola reach the Delta The river flows 1300 km through desert and finally fans out into the Okavango Delta
