2 2 Short Overview: Philipps University Marburg ● Philipps University of Marburg is the oldest university founded as a protestant institution in the entire world. ● Founded in 1527 by Landgrave Philipp the Magnanimous. ● More than 21,000 students (in 2010). ● 16 faculities (academic courses: B.A., M.A., Diplom & Magister) ● Renowned for its research in material sciences, optodynamics, tumour research, microbiology, neuroscience, peace and conflict research as well as in other branches of the natural sciences, humanities and medical disciplines.
