You can add process faceplates to the project and commit the changes You can continue building other content from that point forward in View Studio Common environment to design your control system Common Design framework reduces complexities in dealing with multiple editing environments Continue to add content from View Studio and synchronize between the design environments on demand

7 Distributed Backup and Restore Tool
OVERVIEW 3-Click Backup Backs up FTD, all servers Single archive file 3-Click Restore Can restore entire or partial application Integration with FactoryTalk AssetCentre Leverages Custom Device Plugin BENEFITS Back up entire FTD, short cuts, and all of the HMI content You can grab primary or secondary for backup Restore – you can pick machine name and location where it gets restored to AssetCenture – use custom device to schedule back ups from the software directly you can use command line to back up an on-line project.   Command line has NO restore capability. This feature will be supported with SE 8.10 and forward. Reduce deployment time while efficiently transferring complete application to end destination Maintain backup copies of HMI application while in development or after deployment Leverage FactoryTalk AssetCentre for a Disaster Recovery solution Backup Step 1: Choose Application Step 2: Review and Customize Step 3: Create Backup Restore Step 1: Choose Archive Step 2: Review and Customize Step 3: Restore

8 Alarm Groups for FTAE tag-based alarms
OVERVIEW Alarms can be organized by logical groups Define group hierarchy up to 4 layers deep View, Filter, Sort by group name Alarm Summary Alarm Banner Status Explorer Alarm LogViewer BENEFITS Alarms can be a member of only 1 group – group is a property of the alarm Alarm grouping is really an attribute to an alarm. Allows us to better present alarms for process customers to consume. There is no ‘Display Filters’ capability in Alarm Banner, however, you are able to subscribe specific group of alarms in ‘Event Subscriptions’ in alarm banner. ‘Display Filter’ is available in Alarm Summary, Explorer, logviewer. ‘Event Subscriptions’ is available in Summary, Banner. Existing Functions have been enhanced with filtering by Alarm Name and Group New Functions with filtering by Alarm Name and Group AE_HighPriorityActive(Filter)  – highest priority of In Alarm alarms AE_ShelvedAlarmsExist(Filter)  – returns whether alarms exist in Shelved state AE_UnackedAlarmsExist(Filter) – returns whether alarms exist in InAlarm and Unack’d state AE_FaultedAlarmExist(Filter)  – returns whether alarms exist in Faulted state Improve Operator Effectiveness by organizing alarms in groups and displaying alarm status if any alarm in the group is triggered

19 Parameterized Screen Testing in FactoryTalk View Studio
OVERVIEW HMI Developers can use “test run” on screens designed to use parameters User can specify individual tags or a parameter file. BENEFITS If you have screen with parameters and if you press test displays than a dialog will appear where you can provide reference to tags to complete the testing Use this capability for screen validation in FactoryTalk View Studio Allows for dynamic tag values when parameters are connected to a data source

20 New Computer Group Security functions
OVERVIEW Two new security functions: CurrentComputerHasGroup( ) – This function returns whether the current computer is assigned to the specified FactoryTalk user group CurrentComputerGroups( ) – This function returns the FactoryTalk user group list of which the current computer is a member. This function is available in VBA only CurrentComputerHasGroup( ) security function Rather than A through P security, this allows you continue to build your user/group security via group and gets a step closer to role based security BENEFITS Coincides with new functions introduced in v8.0 CurrentUserGroups( ) CurrentUserHasGroup( ) Step closer to allowing the user to define role-based security CurrentComputerHasGroup CurrentComputerGroups (VBA Only)

21 Keypad Enhancements - Numeric
OVERVIEW Modernized numeric keypad showing: Current tag name Current tag value Entry Min/Max (when configured) Tag description (HMI tags) Tag units (HMI tags) 1 Min/Max setting first comes from the NumericInput Properties. If not set there and it’s an HMI tag, it will look at tag definition. If not set there, Min/Max field is blank. If not set there and it’s a device tag, Min/Max field will be blank until we are able support meta data. The enhancement applied to SE only,  no change to the ME on-screen keypad 2

22 Keypad Enhancements - String
OVERVIEW Modernized string keypad showing: Current tag name Current tag value Tag description (HMI tags) Tag units (HMI tags) Update Field button – allows you to update individual fields and then download all of them together afterwards. It was confusing and now, you can hide that button The enhancement applied to SE only,  no change to the ME on-screen keypad

23 Popup Position Relative to Calling Object
OVERVIEW HMI Developer can specify the location of the popup to be relative to the calling object. Display MyPopup /RP It is centered, to the right of the calling object. If relative position if off-screen, the popup will adjust to be on-screen. Question: What about SE Client spanned across 2 monitors with calling object close to the “middle” of the client screen? Depending how multi-monitor is implemented, popup may not “know” it is off-screen.
