9. Youth Mental Health First Aid(YMHFA) USA First Aid Training In the United States, about 1 in 5 adolescents suffer from mental illness. As a result, Mental Health First Aid USA created a training to help people acknowledge that mental illnesses are real, common, treatable, and that it’s OK to seek help. YMHFA USA curriculum is primarily focused on information participants can use to help adolescents and transition-age youth, ages 12-18. Participants may include: family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens who work with adolescents. Dear Educator or School Counselor, The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) is now accepting applications for the 2016 Youth Awards; educational grants are available for students who are part of the graduating class of 2017. For the 18th year, recipients will be selected for their accomplishments in the classroom, community, and for their focus in various educational categories. Once selected, the students will be celebrated at 10 regional ceremonies across the country and receive grants to continue their education or to fund an idea or project that will serve to impact their communities.
