The goals of the SITES-M/MUREP program are to: Inspire a more diverse student population to pursue careers in STEM-related fields; Engage students, parents/adult family members and teachers by immersing them in STEM activities involving emerging technologies and high-tech applications; and Educate students utilizing rigorous STEM curricula, designed and implemented by NASA, and utilizing effective evidence- based strategies employed by leading STEM professionals and agencies.

What is the Family Café? The Family Café seeks to empower, encourage, and enable adult caregivers by sharing information geared toward making academic choices that enhance the educational career of the child.

To be a voice to interface for the parents to the SITES- M/MUREP Program To provide parents/families with strategies, materials, and resources to support their children's educational needs To gain feedback in developing programs that most effectively support your children's education To provide expert speakers to share insightful and helpful topics FAMILY CAFE

Provides parents/families with strategies to motivate and mentor your children. Empowers parents/families to assert their role as a partner in the day- to-day education of your children Introduces parents/families to NASA resources and technology that are available to support your children's education and career choices Connects parents/family members with other local resources and programs that are available for your children

Week 1- March 12, 2016 – Overview of the SITES-M/MUREP Project – Meet-and- greet with other parents Week 2- April 2, 2016 – Building your child’s portfolio and resume – Guest Speaker Week 3 April 16, 2016 – Hands on STEM activities Week 4- May 14, 2016 – How to develop great study habits – How to help your child with homework Week 5- May 21, 2016 – Field Trip- Adventure Science Center

Activity – Divide into GROUPS as assigned – Collaborate amongst each other within your group, and come up with about 3 – 4 Topics you might like to hear Guest Speaker Presentations at Family Café – List these Topics on your respective Poster Sticky Chart – Select a Leader that will be prepared to discuss your selected topics and ideas with everyone; Also state supportive reasons for your Selected Topics
