1 How To Do Outline of Research Paper By M. J. Brestle

2 Purpose The purpose of the outline is to plan the construction and organization of the research paper.

3 Students should decide where in the paper they will use the citations (info. from sources).

4 How to do Outline: Use basic outlining techniques ~ organize using any combination on the following format:

5 I. Introduction – There are many ways to introduce your topic including but not limited to: telling a story, giving an example, definition or as most will do, a general overview.

6 Be sure the last sentence of your introduction is a Thesis Statement – which organizes and gives an overview of your paper. (Ask teacher if unsure)
