About ESSCI Vision & Mission Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI) for skill development in electronics systems from design to manufacturing including service. The Council has been promoted by Six Electronics Associations: Financial support is by: Our Vision Facilitate world class ecosystem for Industry oriented skill development in electronics sector. Our Mission To establish a structured mechanism with NSDC in strengthening the existing vocational education system To upgrade industry oriented training system for achieving global standards Objective ESSCI bring together all the stakeholders – industry, labour & the academia, for the common purpose of workforce development of Electronic sectors ESSCI works with NSDC guidelines to implement skill development in PPP model

ESDM: A critical industry for India Industry with the largest growth potential ESDM products are used across many sectors Potential for $400 Bn revenues in next 10 yrs No domestic industry, despite having large talent pool & a large domestic market Current base is only of low value-add manuf. ESDM imports in India can exceed oil imports. Communication and Strategic Electronics are key for protecting national security National Security & self reliance in defense & telecom Inclusive- since it will create high-end as well as manufacturing jobs in next 10 years. Can create over 27.8Mn new jobs

Manpower Projections Source: Human Resource and Skills requirement in Electronics and IT hardware: Report by NSDC (KPMG) Electronics and IT Hardware is one of the emerging sectors for employment growth in India which employs over 4.3 million people in India across manufacturing, sales and marketing (including retail) and repair and maintenance segments. 89 lakh skilled workers will be required in electronics and hardware sector by 2022 The demand for electronic and IT hardware products expected to touch Rs 24 lakh crore mark by 2020 Demand for electronics stood at Rs 6 lakh crore in FY13 but only Rs 2,16,000 crore goods were produced in India. Central and state governments are among the largest demand drivers for the electronics industry. India's computers and peripherals market is estimated to reach Rs 7,490 crore in 2022, up from Rs 2,430 crore in 2013 and the projected Rs 4,200 crore in 2017. The consumer electronics space has been characterized by rapid technological advancements, shortening product cycles. Moreover, these advancements come at a huge cost and require vast investments in developing R&D capabilities.

NETRA: National ESDM Technology Research Academy supported by IESA, ESSCI and Major Semiconductor Product companies. MSI: Chain of Multiskilling Institutes to be setup in Industry Clusters to address the high end Manpower Requirements. UKERI:. UK-India Education and Research Initiative - of British Council seeks to produce transnational standards. Schools : Initiatives being taken to introduce Skill and Vocational Training at early age. Universities : Finishing-school courses to be introduced to orient from vanilla academic education to Job-Oriented qualifications. ICT Academy: Under DietY’s initiatives, to improve Quality of Faculty in Institutes & Colleges, 7-Electronics & ICT Academies in select States/UTs to be set-up at IITs/IIIT/NITs. (NIT, Patna, IIITDM Jabalpur, NIT, Warangal, IIT Guwahati). Internship : Being worked out with industry for programed intervention of Industry- Oriented Skill-Training. Way Forward
