Efficient use of the limited marine space and resources Huge potential for development of innovative synergies between socio-technical and ecological uses: -Energy Extraction (wind power and wave energy) -Aquaculture -Transport Maritime Services Our Scope: Assess the socio-economic viability of the proposed novel designs of multi- use offshore platforms integrating all the necessary information generated in various stages of the project.

International Center for the Environment and the Economy Methodology for Integrated Socio-Economic Assessment (MISEA) Identifies, evaluates and assesses: - Private and Public impacts (financial, socio-economic, environmental costs and benefits) of different feasible MUOP designs - Responses of those impacted by the MUOPs investment project. (Stakeholders) Provides decision-makers with a decision tool to assess whether a MUOP project increases overall social welfare and hence should be undertaken. Crucial decision tool for implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD).

International Center for the Environment and the Economy EU Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) Aims to achieve good environmental status of the EU's marine waters by 2020 and to protect the resource base upon which marine-related economic and social activities depend. Each member state must draw up a program of cost- effective measures, while prior to any new measure an impact assessment which contains a detailed cost-benefit analysis of the proposed measures is required.

Financial Impacts Employment; Education; Self-Reliance (energy and food security); Community benefits (diversification of rural incomes; contribution towards environmental sustainability and potential for combining with Green Tourism); Recreational activities: fishing, yachting and boating, other water-based activities; Health hazards. International Center for the Environment and the Economy Mediterranean Policy Site A typical sheltered deep water site in more temperate waters with moderate wind energy potential and moderate wave energy. The policy site, for the potential MUOP, is located in the Northern Adriatic Sea, East of Italy. Environmental Effects related to: Biodiversity, Invasive Species, Renewable Energy, Fish Production and Eutrophication * Based on Environmental Impact Assessment Socioeconomic effects: employment around 0.24% and 0.11% for fish farming and energy farming, respectively.
