7 Demonstrating Digital Railway : Norwich – Yarmouth – Lowestoft
Will take Digital Railway a step beyond early testing at Thameslink and Cambrian line during CP5. First time ETCS Level 2 and Traffic Management will be integrated based on Phase 2 systems architecture. Final approval April 2016 Target completion March 2019 The site is: Representative of the wider network Renewal required in CP5 Linked to Rail Operating Centre (ROC) with full rollout early in programme sequence Manageable fleet fitment/driver training Operationally low risk The deployment will demonstrate and prove: That the different systems can be integrated The business change required to implement the national toolkit The capability and business benefits; The assumptions made in the business case including cost The change can be made to minimise performance disruption

8 NYL Delivery Configuration Drop A Configuration Drop B
ETCS L2, controlled from Romford, system integration, asset recovery, telecoms upgrade, level crossing upgrade, business change including organisational change. Configuration Drop A Minimum scope required for Digital operational solution to enable asset renewal and signaller release Required by October 2018 As per “A” plus Traffic Management, Connected Driver Advisory System (C-DAS), Data Reporting Analysis and Corrective Action System (DRACAS), telecoms upgrade (packet switching), fully bi-directional, LINX. Configuration Drop B Minimum scope required to demonstrate Digital Railway National Toolkit Required by March 2019 As per “A” + “B” and additional decision support tools, (stock and crew, incident management), Combined Positioning Alternative Signalling System (COMPASS). Configuration Drop C Minimum National Toolkit demonstration achievable on NYL Required by December 2019
