3 Process moving forward The School Reform Commission invites all charter schools that have received a renewal or modification recommendation from the Office of Charter Schools to propose charter terms that advance the SRC's priorities in the following ways: The Office of Charter Schools will work collaboratively with each charter school to identify potential issues and help ensure their proposal meets the SRC's priorities. Beginning next Friday, April 27, 2012, and through June 30, 2012, the SRC will meet every Friday from 9-11 a.m. to consider charter school proposals. With the exception of weeks of regularly scheduled SRC meetings (May 16, May 31, June 21). For consideration on Friday, proposals must be submitted to the Office of Charter Schools by 5 p.m. the preceding Wednesday. As necessary, the SRC will schedule additional meetings by request to consider proposals on a rolling basis. All additional meetings will be advertised in accordance with sunshine laws and open to the public. Priority: Fiscal prudence –Signed charter –Enrollment agreements –Catchment area enrollments –Collaborative recruitment from specific schools –Willingness to use district facilities Priority: Improving student achievement & safety –High-quality choices in every neighborhood –Move students from low-performing to high- performing, safe schools –Equitable access and safety –Innovative programs
