2. How This Strategy Came About National Council and Chief Executives’ Network established the Leadership Development Task Group. LDTG Chaired by Anne Linsey, Chief Executive of YMCA Training. LDTG commissioned a review by The Centre for Charity Effectiveness, from Cass Business School, London’s City University.

Who This Strategy Is For Leaders Across UK + Ireland: Chief Executives Chairs and Trustees Strategic leaders: Report to chief executive Attend board meetings Have influential corporate role Run high-level external programmes A separate Youth Participation Strategy covers youth volunteering and leadership.

5. The 10 Year Vision For Leadership Pioneer and innovate for young people. Provide a clear sense of direction for the Movement. Be role models for leadership across the voluntary and community sector. Lead and inspire change across the Movement. Because of major changes taking place in the external environment.

Qualities Every Leader Needs To Have Adapted from the Clore Leadership Programme. Added your unique features: How your faith makes you different - adds value to your work with young people. Innate goodness of young people. Lead complex change, be highly entrepreneurial. Foster an energetic “buzz”.

7. The Honeycomb Menu Of Leadership Development Options. A honeycomb clustered around leadership roles. No fixed route to take. Examples –not an exhaustive list. Mixes on-the-job development, coaching and formal training. Covers the basics – then stretches further. Exchange and cross-Movement working. Loose and emergent, can dip in and out.

10. Next Steps For The Task Group Review your feedback in detail. Finalise, run and evaluate the pilot programme. Amend the strategy to reflect your feedback and experiences. Seek approval for the strategy at the National Council AGM in November 2011.
