6  Total Credits for Graduation: 24  4 credits of English  3 credits of Mathematics (incl. Algebra I)  3 credits of Social Studies (incl. Amer. St./Civics and US History)  3 credits of Science (incl. 1 cr. Biology)  2 credits of PE (incl. Health)  1 credit of Applied Study  1 credit of Fine Arts  7 credits of electives  State performance standards: Mathematics, Reading, Writing, and Science  Performance standards: Technology Literacy, Cultural Awareness, Appreciation of the Arts, Social Responsibility  Senior Capstone Project  Community Service – 20 Hours

7  Three distinct levels of rigor are offered in courses at WLHS.  All levels offer content and skill development appropriate for students preparing to attend college.  Students are encouraged to request enrollment in the most demanding courses of which they are capable, as the challenge of rigorous coursework provides the greatest opportunity to build solid academic skills.

8  Level I  Advanced Placement (AP) and Early College Experience (ECE)  Courses are characterized by fast-paced instruction, project-based work, and in-depth research  Courses offered at this level expect students to:  be independent learners  Complete extensive out-of-class reading and writing  Take the AP Exam (requires a fee)

9  Level 2  Honors (H)  Courses at this level require an extensive amount of work outside of class including:  Research Projects  Assignment-based homework  Extensive reading and writing  Group work

10  Level 3  Academic (A)  Courses offered at this level require a moderate amount of homework including:  Projects  Reading and Writing  Course assignments  Group Work

23  The Advisory Program at WLHS is built into all students’ schedules  Advisory provides a more personalized learning environment for students with an additional adult in the building  Advisory provides lessons for college and career readiness  The ELO or Extended Learning Opportunity program gives students multiple opportunities for students to earn credit outside of school through hands-on experiences – certain criteria are needed

25  Scheduling will be completed online through Power School during the month of March  You will choose courses based on the recommendations of your 8 th grade teachers  You will be able to read descriptions of your courses in the Program of Studies which will be handed to you by your school counselor at a future date

26  Read the Program of Studies carefully  Make course selections thoughtfully  All graduation requirements and courses of study are clearly outlined  Build your high school career on a solid foundation which fits your needs, abilities, and interests
