Facts about FHCJ: FHCJ is Independent Higher Education Institution, accredited in 2006; FHCJ is public institution founded by municipality Jesenice ; FHCJ has concession from the state for first Diploma level Nursing programme (180 ECTS). 2014: College of Nursing Jesenice upgraded to Faculty of Health Care Jesenice (FHCJ)

CNJ was the 1st: - higher education institution in Slovenia which was established by nurses; - institution where a dean has nursing qualification;. - institution in Slovenia that made harmonization with EU directive for nursing education and Bologna process.

How we were established? 2004 Institute for Health Protection at the Ministry of Health made research about lack of RN in Slovenia. Recommendations: – Enlarge enrolment of nursing students on existing schools for 15% – Import of 40 RN on year from abroad or establish new school for RN

Our vision: Become the best faculty in nursing and health care education in Slovenia and well known and appreciated institution in European area. Strategy: – Staff development on pedagogical and research area (knowledge, ambitiousness, responsibility) – Research work, whose results will enrich clinical practice and will be ublished in the periodicals at home and abroad; – Students active inclusion in development of faculty; – Follow and development quality indicators for higher education institution on health care area on national and international area, – Spreading idea in Slovenia about importance of research, evidence based practice, profession development, integration of different professions at patient care, – Working with clinical area on development and research projects, – International collaboration on research and development project. – Development a new study programs which are comparable and integrate in EU education programs for nursing and others health care professionals which are bases on the needs of populations.

Study programs - on going: NURSING – 1st cycle professional higher education study program in Nursing - Diploma/3yrs – 180 ECTS from academic year 2007/08, entry 70 full time and 60 part time per year; – 2nd cycle study program Nursing - Master’s Degree - professional/2yrs – 120 ECTS from 2009/2010; There are 345 students in 2013/2014 in 1st Bologna Diploma level and 24 students in 2nd Bologna level – Master in Nursing ; Staff: – 35 person full time and part time employed, 50 honorary lecturers – 40 teachers with PhD – 6 teachers from abroad on master in nursing

Study programs - in development: – HEALTH PROMOTION – 2nd cycle study program Health Promotion - Master’s Degree - professional/2yrs – 120 ECTS from 2015/2016 (in accreditation process); DOCTORATE IN HEALTH CARE SCIENCES; – 3th cycle study program Nursing and health care sciences - PhD Degree - scientific/3yrs – 180 ECTS in development; SPECIALIZATION IN NURSING; – 1 year postgraduate program – 60 ECTS: Paliative care, Hospital infection, Oncology care, Psychiatric care

International memberships Since 2007 we are part of regional association »Saniacademia« (Austria, Italy, Slovenia). Since 2008 CNJ is a member of EMUNI University. FINE from 2010; In October 2012 CNJ has became a member of C.U.A.M. (University Consortium of the Africa and the Mediterranean). Since 2010 a member of consortium »Curriculum Meeting Points - Understanding the European Master and the American Doctor of Nursing Practice«(new name - IRIS ); ASPHER (from May 2014)

Resarch and development projects: 16 research projects 2007 – 2014 – International – Slovenian: health promotion at older people, alcohol and young people, E-support of health care … 9 development projects – Topics: education of clinical mentors on area research, evidence based practice, communication ethics, older people, standards of education, qulity indicators in health care education…. Funding: EU social found, National research ageny, Ministry for higer education, LPP, Erasmus idr – 30 % of budget we get from research and development projects
