Recruitment Things Learned From RLS

Have An Effective Recruiting Plan Chapter Participation Training Inclusiveness Calendar of Events Event Diversity Communication Names List Networking/Advertising Goals and Expectations Teams/Committee

Criteria For Voting on Bids 4 Founding Principles GPA Community Service Study Abroad Helps to show how they show our values. Helps eliminate the “Good Guys” or “Nice Guys”.

Other Chapters Voting Methods For most other chapters the hardest part is getting a bid.

2 Rounds Of Voting 1 st Round; 95% approval gets a bid, under 50% approval gets dismissed. The middle group gets pushed until next round (after next event or later). 2 nd Round; 90% approval gets a bid. Under 90% doesn’t get in.

Committee Voting Trusting in a recruitment committee of brothers to vote on bids. If there is a disagreement on the extended bid then they can be removed in an upcoming chapter meeting.

Googledoc Voting Recruitment chair sets up a Googledoc with all potential members on it. All active brothers have access to the document and must vote at their own discretion by a set time and date. Benefits are saving time at chapter. Draw backs are that there is no discussion.

Snap Bid vs All-Quality Snap bids get more initially but we must be picky and heavily evaluate the new members. This makes sure that we know who is of quality out of all the PNM we bid. This will have a large pledge class initially, but should drop in size as the new members are evaluated. All-Quality bids, guarantees that new members are all of quality, and the type of men that we are looking for, but that means we may not have as large of a pledge class initially.

Things To Remember When Voting Apathy keeps good members out. If you don’t know a PNM, vote to abstain. Only discuss those who need to be discussed. Only allowing 2 positive statements about PMNs.

Other “Recruitment” Events Hold a leadership seminar on campus sponsored by DU. Either at the beginning of the semester, over the summer, or during sneak preview weekend. Josh Katz from IHQ will do these with enough notice. Invite other greeks as well. Scholarships for incoming freshmen, whether they want to go greek or not. Have alumni donate money for a scholarship. And hold a dinner for the finalists. (proven that a majority will end up going greek, and look to us as first choice) During the summer, we are lucky enough to live at the beach, those in town and taking classes, talk to gdi’s and get them to come hang out with bros at a beach day or BBQ. Summer is a good time for laid back rush.

Things To Talk To PNM’s About “Selling The Fraternity”

Things To Talk About And When Recruitment chair can ask “On a scale of 1 to 10 how do you feel about DU?” We should make a scrapbook of pics of things that we do. Connections (jobs, alumni, soroities) Opportunities (vivid and specific) Out of class room education (theory- >practice)

Things to Remember about Recruitment Screwing and F-ing (Shake their hand and talk about the 5 f’s) Keep track of contact made with PNM’s. 2 to 1 ratio. Flip the questions to the potentials. Show up to events! Be friendly Be able to hold a conversation.

Be Ready For Questions Why did you join DU? If you can’t answer that now how will you be able to when a PNM asks.
